So, you’ve decided to pursue the renowned Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification, which is a worldwide recognised badge of honour in the project management industry.

But before you start reading training manuals and preparing for exams, there’s one important thing you should know: how much will it cost?

Admittedly, certificates are not inexpensive. According to a 2023 Global Knowledge poll, professionals spend $4,237 on certifications on average, with the PMP being one of the most desired certifications.

The good news is that there can be a sizable return on investment (ROI). According to the same report, earning a PMP certification can increase your pay by 20% on average, making it a wise long-term career choice.

This blog aims to equip you with the facts and figures you need to make an informed decision about pursuing (PMP®) certification.

What is PMP Certification?

The PMP® certification, offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), validates your expertise in leading and managing projects across industries. It demonstrates your comprehension of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) published by PMI and your capacity to implement its ideas in real-world situations.

PMP Certification Costs

The total cost can vary depending on several factors, but here’s a breakdown of the main components:

PMP Certification Costs

Training Courses

In general, the cost of online PMP training courses ranges from $500 to $2000, depending on the provider, the breadth of the course material, and optional features such as live instructor support or access to exclusive resources.

Our training course, for instance, costs $1699 and has a thorough curriculum that will get aspiring project managers ready for the PMP examination.

Face-to-Face Courses

For those who prefer in-person learning experiences, we also offer face-to-face (F2F) courses exclusively in Sydney, Australia. These in-person classes offer a practical method for preparing for the PMP while accommodating various learning preferences.

In addition, we provide tailored face-to-face training courses in Australia and New Zealand for groups consisting of six or more people. These classes provide personalised training and promote group cooperation, all while being customised to your organisation’s particular requirements.

Online Courses

We also offer online courses for individuals in Asia. This enables you to take advantage of our excellent PMP training from the convenience of your home or place of business.

Our online courses meet the needs of individuals in the area by offering flexibility and convenience in studying. The extensive curriculum makes sure you are ready for success by covering every topic on the PMP examination syllabus.

PMP Renewal Fees

It’s important to maintain your (PMP®) certification through regular renewals once you’ve achieved it. To maintain your certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP®), you must accumulate 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years.

You’ll receive an email inviting you to renew your certification after PMI verifies your PDUs; however, there is a renewal charge that must be paid beforehand. The $60 renewal cost applies if your PMI membership is currently active. Those without an active PMI membership must pay $150 to renew their PMP certification.

Examination Fees

Regardless of the preparation method, there’s an examination fee to take the PMP exam. For both PMI members and non-members, the cost is $544. On the other hand, it’s a cost-effective option because PMI members get discounted prices for both the exam and membership renewal.

Is PMP Certification Worth It?

Yes, it is worth it. Along with the financial benefits, earning a PMP certification can lead to new job prospects, improve your credibility as a project manager, and provide you with invaluable knowledge and skills that can further your career.

It is evidence of your commitment to project management excellence and goes beyond just a badge of honour.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Let’s go over some frequently asked questions from individuals considering PMP certification:

1: What should be included in a PMP study plan?

A comprehensive PMP study plan typically covers key exam topics, allocates study time, and includes practice exams for assessment. It could additionally involve reference materials, flashcards, and review sessions.

PMI provides proctored online assessments in addition to in-person exams at approved testing locations. Depending on your location and preferences, you can choose between online and in-person exams.
